Enrique Báster accomplishes a work in which he explores concepts in relation with the urban distribution resulting from power relations. In his paintings and drawings he uses abstract language, and incorporates elements in the form of collages, for instance, paper money, as part of his ideas associated to hegemony. In his own words, “the ideology that makes up the contemporary social organization inevitably makes us coexist in geometrical spaces of complex multifunctional subdivisions. In their structure they promise stability, proportion and social order. I am interested in opposing these keys as a sign of distortion and perversion, fragmentation and entropy. The superimpositions of profuse pictorial networks such as writings, viruses or forced embraces invade and contaminate, create a stage that suggests the posing of questions in relation with the contemporary urban environment”.
